Runtime and Pacing
At over three hours, Animal overstays its welcome. Several subplots could have been trimmed significantly without losing anything essential. The film's final act, in particular, feels drawn out and loses momentum.

The film shifts jarringly between intimate emotional drama and operatic violence. While this contrast is clearly intentional, it doesn't always land smoothly, and some tonal swings feel more jarring than purposeful.
